The nationwide campaign will allow groups of volunteers who want to plant trees, repair paths or collect litter to apply for a £50 grant to help buy tools for their project or help with running costs.

There are 150 grants to give out in Scotland between now and June under the scheme, CSV Action Earth, which is being run by Community Service Volunteers (CSV) and funded by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH).

Gorgie City Farm is one of the first groups to apply successfully for a grant this year, with the money going towards running costs. Lothians Green MSP Robin Harper will join around 20 volunteers on Wednesday to help them prepare planting pots for the launch of the campaign.
